श्रीबालाम्बिकाष्टकम् २

Devi Balambika is the consort of Lord Vaidyanatha at Vaideeswarankoil, Tamil Nadu. नतोऽस्मि ते देवि सुपादपङ्कजं मुरासुरेन्द्रैरभिवन्दितं सदा । परात्परं चारुतरं सुमङ्गलं वेदार्थ-वेद्यं ममकार्य-सिद्धये ॥ १॥ Devi, for fulfilment of my desires, I bow at your lovely lotus feet, which are ever worshipped by the leaders of Devas and Asuras and are higher than the highest, most beautiful, supremely auspicious and known only to the subtle intent of Vedas. (1) वेदैकवन्द्यं भुवनस्य मातरं समस्त-कल्याण-गुणाभिरामकाम् । भक्तार्थदं भक्तजनाभिवन्द्यां बालाम्बिकां बालकलां नतोऽस्मि ॥ २॥ I bow to Balambika, the youthful aspect of Devi, the unitary existence worshipped by Vedas, the mother of the universe, who delights all by her treasure of auspicious qualities, who is the bestower of all objects of desire of devotees and who is intensely worshipped by devotees. (2) सौवर्ण-चित्राभरणाञ्च गौरीं प्रफुल्ल रक्तोत्पल-भूषिताङ्गीम् । नीलालकां नीलगल-प्रियाञ्च बालाम्बिकां बालकलां नतोऽस्मि ॥ ३॥ I bow to Balambika, the youthful aspect of Devi, Gowri, who is wearing many wonderful ornaments of gold, who glows like the fully blossomed red coloured lotus, who has black hair on head and who is the beloved of Nilakantha blue-throated Shiva. (3) सौवर्ण-वर्णाकृति-दिव्य-वस्त्रां सौवर्ण-रत्नाञ्चित दिव्य-काञ्चीम् । निम्बाटवी-नाथ-मनःप्रहृष्टां बालाम्बिकां बालकलां नतोऽस्मि ॥ ४॥ I bow to Balambika, the youthful aspect of Devi, who is wearing shining apparel of golden colour and brilliant golden gem-studded girdle and who delights the mind of the Lord of the Nimba forest Shiva. (4) स्रग्-चन्दनालङ्कृत-दिव्यदेहां हारिद्रसच्चूर्ण विराजिताङ्गीम् । वैचित्र-कोटीर विभूषिताङ्गीं बालाम्बिकां बालकलां नतोऽस्मि ॥ ५॥ I bow to Balambika, the youthful aspect of Devi, who is decorated with garlands and sandal paste and who shines with turmeric paste and wonderful crown. (5) वैचित्र-मुक्तामणि विद्रुमाणां स्रग्भिस्सदाराजित गौरवर्णाम् । चतुर्भुजां चारु-विचित्र-रूपां बालाम्बिकां बालकलां नतोऽस्मि ॥ ६॥ I bow to Balambika, the youthful aspect of Devi, who shines always with necklaces of wonderful pearls and corals, who is white complexioned and who has four arms and beautiful and wonderful form. (6) क्वणत्-सुमञ्जीर-रवाभिरामां समस्त-हृन्मण्डल-मध्य-पीठाम् । वैद्येश्वरीं वैद्यपति-प्रियाञ्च बालाम्बिकां बालकलां नतोऽस्मि ॥ ७॥ I bow to Balambika, the youthful aspect of Devi, who delights with the pleasing sound of the jingling anklets, who is seated in the centre of heart area of all and who is the Healing Goddess, the beloved of Vaidyapati Vaidyanatha. (7) The reference to Vaidya Healing in the names of Vaideeswara and Vaideeswari indicates healing of diseases of not just body and mind, but also of the greater malady of Samsara, the repeated, never-ending cycle of births and deaths. ब्रह्मेन्द्र-विष्ण्वर्क-निशीश-पूर्व गीर्वाण-वर्यार्चित दिव्य-देहाम् । ज्योतिर्मयां ज्ञानद-दिव्य-रूपां बालाम्बिकां बालकलां नतोऽस्मि ॥ ८॥ I bow to Balambika, the youthful aspect of Devi, who is worshipped by Brahma, Indra, Vishnu, Surya, Chandra and the best among Devas, and who is of the form of brilliant Light, bestowing Gnana Supreme Knowledge. (8) बालाम्बिका स्तोत्रमतीव पुण्यं भक्तेष्टदञ्चेन्-मनुजः प्रभाते । भक्त्त्या पठेत् प्राबलार्थ-सिद्धं प्राप्नोति सद्यस्सकलेष्टकामान् ॥ ९॥ This Balambika Stotram is extremely meritorious, capable of bestowing on devotees all their objects of desire, and which is certain to bless fulfilment of all objectives, even very difficult of attainment. One, who reads this Stotram in the morning with devotion, will attain all desired objects immediately. (9) ॥ इति श्रीबालाम्बिकाष्टकस्तोत्रं सम्पूर्णम् ॥ Encoded, proofread, and translated by P. R.
