परा पूजा
अखण्डे सच्चिदानन्दे निर्विकल्पैकरूपिणि ।
स्थितेऽद्वितीयभावेऽस्मिन् कथं पूजा विधीयते ॥ १॥
पूर्णस्यावाहनं कुत्र सर्वाधारस्य चासनम् ।
स्वच्छस्य पाद्यमर्घ्यं तु शुद्धस्याचमनं कुतः ॥ २॥
निर्मलस्य कुतः स्नानं वस्त्रं विश्वोदरस्य च ।
निरालम्बस्योपवीतं पुष्पं निर्वासनस्य च ॥ ३॥ var रम्यस्याभरणं कुतः
निर्लेपस्य कुतो गन्धः पुष्पं निर्वासनस्य च । ।
निर्विशेषस्य का भूषा कोऽलङ्कारो निराकृतेः ॥ ४॥

निर्गन्धस्य कुतो धूपं स्वप्रकाशस्य दीपकम् ।
नित्यतृप्तस्य नैवेद्यस्ताम्बूलं च कुतो विभोः ॥ ४॥
निरञ्जनस्य किं धूपैर्दीपैर्वा सर्वसाक्षिणः ।
निजानन्दैकतृप्तस्य नैवेद्यं किं भवेदिह ॥ ५॥

नित्यतृप्तस्य नैवेद्यं निष्कामस्य फलं कुतः ।
ताम्बूलं च विभोः कुत्र नित्यानन्दस्य दक्षिणा ॥ ५॥
विश्वानन्दयितुस्तस्य किं तांबूलं प्रकल्पते।
स्वयंप्रकाशचिद्रूपो योऽसावर्कादिभासकः ॥ ६॥

स्वयं प्रकाशमानस्य कुतो नीराजनविधिः ।
प्रदक्षिणा ह्यनन्तस्य चाद्वितीयस्य का नतिः ॥ ६॥
गीयते श्रुतिभिस्तस्य नीराजनविधिः कुतः ।
प्रदक्षिणमनन्त्स्य प्रमाणोऽद्वयवस्तुनः ॥ ७॥

प्रदक्षिणा ह्यनन्तस्य ह्यद्वयस्य कुतो नतिः ।
वेदवाक्यैरवेद्यस्य कुतः स्तोत्रं विधीयते ॥ ७॥

इयमेव परा पूजा शम्भोः सत्यस्वरूपिणः ॥ ७॥
स्वयंप्रकाशमानस्य कुतो नीराजनं विभोः ।
अन्तर्बहिः संस्थितस्योद्वासनविधिः कुतः ॥ ८॥

देवो देवालयप्रोक्तो जीवो देवः सदाशिवः ।
त्यजेदज्ञाननिर्माल्यं सोहंभावेन पूजयेत् ॥ ८॥
एवमेव परा पूजा सर्वावस्थासु सर्वदा ।
एकबुद्ध्या तु देवेश विधेया ब्रह्मवित्तमैः ॥ ९॥

तुभ्यमहमनन्ताय मह्यं तुभ्यं शिवात्मने ।
नमो देवाधिदेवाय पराय परमात्मने ॥ ९॥
var
योगी देहाभिमानी स्याद्रोगी कर्मणि तत्परः ।
ज्ञानी मोक्षाभिमान्येव तत्त्वज्ञेनाभिमानिता ॥ १०॥
var
किं करोमि क्व गच्छामि किं गृह्णामि त्यजामि किम् ।
आत्मना पूरितं सर्वं महाकल्पाम्बुना सदा ॥ ११॥
॥ इति परा पूजा समाप्ता ॥

1. Complete Works of Adi Shankaracharya does not
have the work with the title of parA pUjA and the
attribution may be misrepresented. However, it is
found in print.
2. The 1st eight shlokas in identical sequence form
the first part of his work titled nirguNamAnasapUjA.
3. The variations have been gathered from different sources.
Some variations have been noted in different publications
eg bR^ihatstotraratnAkara, parA pUja with Hindi commentary by
Sw. Vidyananda Sarasvati (Arya Samaj, Hindouna City, Rajasthan),
another with Hindi commentary by Babu Jalim Singh, Samata Books, etc.
4. Verses 4, 7, and 9 form the main variants. 9 appears from
Yoga Vasishtha. In some print, the AtmA tvaM girijAmatiH sahacharAH
verse from shivamAnasapUjA is also added.
5. Considering 16 processes, as ShoDashopachAra, these are just the
questions asked and attributes of the Supreme and cannot be
considered Puja as such.
