श्रीसुब्रह्मण्यषट्कं अथवा गुहस्वामिस्तोत्रम्
तव श्रीमन्मूर्तिं कलयितुमनीशोऽहमधुना
(श्रीमन्मूर्ते दर्शनविहीनोऽहम्)
भवत्पादाम्भोजं भवभयहरं यामि शरणम् ।
अतः सत्याद्रीश प्रमथगणनाथात्मज विभो
गुहस्वामिन् दीने वितर (वितनु) मयि कारुण्यमनिशम् ॥ १॥
अगस्त्यप्रष्ठानाममलहृदयाब्जैकनिलयं
सकृद्वा न ध्यातं पदकमलयुग्मं तव मया ।
तथापि श्रीसन्धिस्थलनिलय देवेश वरद
गुहस्वामिन् दीने वितर मयि कारुण्यमनिशम् ॥ २॥
रणे हत्वा शक्त्या सकलदितिजांस्तारकमुखान्
हरिब्रह्मेन्द्राणामपि सुरमुनीनां भुवि नृणाम् ।
मुदं कुर्वाणः श्रीशिवशिखरिनाथ त्वमखिलां
गुहस्वामिन् दीने वितर मयि कारुण्यमनिशम् ॥ ३॥
भवायानन्दाब्धेः श्रुतिनिकरमूलार्थमखिलं
विमथ्य व्याहर्तुं कमलजमशक्तं स्वयमपि ।
ब्रुवाणस्त्वं स्वामिन् क्षितिधरपते देशिक गुरो
गुहस्वामिन् दीने वितर मयि कारुण्यमनिशम् ॥ ४॥
शरद्राकाजैवातृकविमलषड्वक्त्रविलसद्-
द्विषड्बाहो शक्त्या विदलितमहाक्रौञ्चशिखरिन् ।
हृदब्जस्थ श्रीहृल्लकगिरिपते सर्वविदुषां
गुहस्वामिन् दीने वितर मयि कारुण्यमनिशम् ॥ ५॥
महान्तं केकीन्द्रं वरद निजमारुह्य दिविषद्-
गणानां सर्वेषामभयद मुनीनां च भजताम् ।
वलारातेः कन्यारमण बहुपुण्याचलपते
गुहस्वामिन् दीने वितर मयि कारुण्यमनिशम् ॥ ६॥
इति श्रीसुब्रह्मण्यषट्कं अथवा गुहस्वामिस्तोत्रं सम्पूर्णम् ।
The verses are (rearranged sequence) part of skandalaharI.
Notes: This hymn is interesting as it mentions in each of its verses a shrine noted for its association with bhagwAn subrahmaNyA. It is well known in Tamil literature that six are the famous hill stations (aarupaDai vIDU) of this Divine Commander of the Gods. There is evidently an echo of this tradition in this stotra:
First verse: (referred to as सत्याद्रीश); Corresponds to verse 25 of skandalaharI
Second verse: (referred to as श्रीसन्धिस्थलनिलयa), ``tiruchendil'' or ``tiruchendUr'' the second Padai-Veedu is on the seashore in Tirunelveli District; जयन्तिपुर क्षेत्र (referred to as shrIjanti in skandalaharI); Corresponds to verse 27 of skandalaharI. Also see Tiruchendur Suprabhatham.
Third verse: (referred to as श्रीशिवशिखरिनाथ); ``tirup-parankundram'' the first Padai-Veedu (the Hill of the Great God) is on the outskirts of Madurai;
Fourth verse: (referred to as क्षितिधरपते); “swAmimalai” the fourth Padai-Veedu is in a suburb near Kumbakonam in Thanjavur District; स्वामिगिरि क्षेत्र; Corresponds to Verse 26 of skandalaharI. Also see SwAmimalai Sahasranamam.
Fifth verse: (referred to as श्रीहृल्लकगिरि); Corresponds to Verse 29 of skandalaharI;
Sixth verse: (referred to as बहुपुण्याचल); Corresponds to Verse 30 of skandalaharI
The three shrines given below have yet to be identified with the first, fifth and sixth verse references
1. ᳚tiruAvinankudi᳚ the third Padai-Veedu is at the foothills Palani in Dindigul District; सत्यग्रि क्षेत्र;
2. “tiruttaNi” the fifth Padai-Veedu is a suburb of Chennai; शान्तादि क्षेत्र;
3. “pazhamudhircholai” the sixth Padai-Veedu, Solaimalai is on the eastern outskirts of Madurai; फलवृक्षोद्यान क्षेत्र;
